The Story Behind Uma Lantar Farm, Eco-Stay

In the heart of Golo Lajang Village lies a dream that took root in the soul of a farmer’s son, Ewaldus Arto, lovingly called Arthur. Growing up among rice fields, rolling hills, and the rhythm of village life, Arthur learned from his parents, Fabianus Lau and Konelia Siti, the timeless values of hard work, harmony, and love for the land.

That childhood, surrounded by nature’s abundance, planted a seed, a dream of creating something different. A kind of travel that doesn’t just observe nature, but respects it, nurtures it, and lives in balance with it.

Arthur’s journey took him from a small village in Flores to Labuan Bajo’s School of Tourism, and later to Bali, where he studied English Education while working at a Tourist Information Center. There, he met travelers from around the world and saw how many were seeking more meaningful, authentic, and sustainable experiences.

After years working as a tour guide across Flores, Arthur realized what he truly wanted — to bring travelers closer to nature and the wisdom of rural life. He dreamed of a sustainable tourism retreat that reconnects people with the earth, empowers local communities, and offers space for mindfulness and reflection.

In April 2025, Arthur returned home to Golo Lajang. Together with local youth and elders, he began to build that dream. With shared enthusiasm and community spirit, they chose Uma Lantar — a serene hilltop surrounded by fertile farmland — as the perfect place to make it real.

And so, Uma Lantar Farm, Eco-Stay was born: a living sanctuary of sustainability, organic farming, and traditional wisdom — a space where travelers from around the world can slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the natural world.
